Virtual Protest?!
Cheap Gimmicks and Cyber Space Wastes of Time.
See For Yourself Why we are Losing the War to End Child-killing...
By Randall A. Terry

Dear Friend,

I beg you to read this entire letter thoughtfully. I want you to understand exactly why 50 million children are dead, no end is in sight, and we are on the brink of being compelled by this godless government to pay for the murder of our neighbor under so-called "health care."

Some presumably well meaning pro-lifers recently launched www.Iam71.org.  "I Am 71" goes as follows: you take a picture of yourself while holding up a sign that says "I Am 71" and post your picture on the above website. This shows that you are one of the 71% of Americans who do not believe that child-killing should be paid for in any Federal Government healthcare reform.

In and of itself, there's nothing inherently wrong with this. But it reveals the pathetic -- no, horrific -- state that many so-called pro-life groups and pro-life leaders are in, and why we are losing the war to end the killing.

In one press release, the author stated: "[I] supported the effort by working to activate the grassroots though the I AM 71 virtual protest in which everyone could easily participate." (emphasis added)

A "virtual protest"?! How would you feel if your house was on fire and "virtual fire fighters" or a "virtual EMT" was sent to your rescue in an e-mail? If you were dying of starvation, would you be satisfied by a "virtual meal" sent to you in an e-mail?

The press release goes on to say: "We plan make sure that President Obama and every member of Congress is sent a link to these photos so they can put faces on the 71% figure that represents the percentage of Americans opposed to tax-funding of abortion in health care legislation currently under consideration...We want them to look us in the eye and consider who they represent before they finalize plans to oppose our will on this critical moral issue."

Eat "virtual meals..."
And you will starve to death.

Allow me to explain to you why this is not only as useless as a "virtual meal," but is actually toxic and poisonous to the pro-life "body."

First, does anyone really believe that President Obama or any member of Congress is actually going to look at these pictures? Does anyone believe that any of their staff is going to look at these pictures and say, "Oh my goodness! We can't fund child-killing because they sent us a link to people's pictures!" Consider how many e-mails you delete in a day without ever opening them.

Next, it gives people who are truly grieved about the prospect of our money being used to pay for the murder of babies -- and looking for something to do to stop it -- the FALSE IMPRESSION that a gimmick like this will have any bearing or effect in this battle. It won't.

E-mails are the most ineffective, easy to ignore (Delete!) way to lobby in our current political and technological environment. But it serves as a placebo - no, a poison - for the person who puts up the picture, because they think they have done something useful, when they have not.

Next, it reveals how horribly weak and anemic many pro-life groups and leaders are. Why are they doing a "virtual protest?" Can't they get people to come out for a real protest? Preaching to the choir, and sending e-mails back and forth in the "ghetto" of cyberspace is not a protest. It does not galvanize people. It does not get the attention of the press or of our elected officials or even of a neighborhood in which we might stand holding signs, with hundreds or thousands of cars passing by.

Next, it does not serve to create communities of advocates who sacrifice time, and effort, and reputation to create the much-needed social tension to defeat this bill, and ultimately to crush legalized child-killing underfoot.

Imagine if Dr. Martin Luther King had suggested a "virtual march" across the Edmund Pettus Bridge or "virtual freedom rides" through the South. Does anyone think segregation would have been defeated by such nonsense? The creation and cementing of a "Band of Brothers" that are a force against injustice and a dread to hell itself requires real action.

Next, the press release said the American people "...have now spoken with resounding clarity in opposition to such funding. Those voices deserve to be heard. The I AM 71 project doing that." This is simply not true. The e-mails will be deleted. They will not be heard. If these "leaders" really want the voices of the 71% to be heard, they could at least give out the phone number of Capitol Hill and urge people to flood them with phone calls! Phone calls are still a critical part of how we "common folk" lobby our government.

Getting the poison out of our system...
And getting back to real cultural warfare.
Read the "Letter from the Birmingham Jail."

If they want to be more effective, and teach people how to "have their voices heard," they could instruct people to go to the home office in their own local area for both of their U.S. Senators and their U.S. House Member. (I.e., if you live in California, your two Senators have about 9 offices each throughout the state; no matter where you live, it would be easy to go there in person.)

Pro-lifers could go alone; or they could go with two or three; or they could go in a group. The group could even send out a press release to their local media alerting them of their activities, and then stand outside of the Senator's or House Member's office for an hour holding up signs saying: "I am 71. I will not pay for the murder of babies in healthcare!"... and other such handmade placards. (They might get some pretty good press coverage.) Then they can put their signs away, and go into the office as a group and "read the riot act" to whatever staffers are there.

If they do that, believe me... their "voices will be heard."

I said above that these cyber space tactics were not only ineffective, but were actually toxic and poisonous in the fight to crush legalized child-killing.

The reason it is poisonous is because it takes potential warriors and teaches them how to not fight; it gives them the false impression that scurrying around in cyberspace somehow translates into political firepower; it wastes a "teaching moment" in which we should be recruiting scores, hundreds, or even thousands of bold new pro-life advocates to learn the lessons of social revolutionaries of our past, and to FIGHT in this battle.

Rather than taking the time to take a picture and putting it up on a website, people would be much better served to read a copy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Letter from a Birmingham Jail. The principles of this magnificent treatise will show in principle what needs to be done to defeat child-killing in the health-care bill, and to ultimately break the back of legalized child-killing in America, just as the back was broken of legalized segregation in all 50 states.

So, do you want to fight the evil of "healthcare child-killing"?
Do you want your voice to really be heard?
If so, here are some real ways to fight.

  • Call both of your U.S. Senators and your U.S. House member. The phone number of Capitol Hill is 202-224-3121. (If you do not know who are your Senators or your House member, tell them where you live, and they can direct you to the right office.) Then, with real pathos in your voice tell them plainly: "Congress must not pay for the murder of babies in healthcare!" You could also tell them: "If you try to fund child-killing with my money, you are inviting me to not pay taxes." And if you're really bold, tell them: "We fought a war over tea tax. We fought a war over slavery. What do you think is going to happen if you force Americans to pay for the murder of their neighbor? You're inviting ominous repercussions..."

  • Pay a visit -- IN PERSON! -- to the U.S. Senator office and House member office nearest you. Wherever you live, there is a field office for both of your senators and your House member where you can go and pay a personal visit. Why waste your time sending a picture of your face in an e-mail that will never be read when you can actually take "your face" in person and lobby for the rights of babies?

  • Hold a real protest. For the really brave and adventuresome, go to www.OverturnRoe.com and click on the "marching orders." It will give you step-by-step instructions on how to hold a protest and to send out a press release in your area. If you can get six or eight people together, and have some clever signs, you may find yourself on the evening news on the front page of your local paper. And trust me -- your voice will be heard -- by thousands and thousands in your area, as well as by the Senators and House member you want to reach! Believe me... they don't read their e-mails, but they always find their name in the local newspaper!

  • Contact all 535 Congressmen by fax. For those who want to spend a little money contacting every single U.S. Senator and/or every single U.S. House Member, you can write a personal one-page letter that will be faxed simultaneously to every single senator and or House member. This is far less expensive than faxing them one at a time at a UPS store, and far less expensive than sending them in the mail. (Click here for all US Senators; Click here for all House members.) And in case you were wondering, they still have staffers who actually read letters that come in the mail or by fax.

  • Come here - to Washington DC. For those willing to spend more time and money, come here to Washington, D.C. and lobby in person. We have already had people from 11 states come and join us at their own expense to go from office to office, meeting with representatives or their staff, and demanding that child-killing not be included in any so-called health care reform. If you're interested in doing that, please contact us.

Watch this Video Now - and send it to Leaders

Finally, watch our new video: "Randall Terry Admonishes Pro-life Leaders." http://www.youtube.com/randallterry#play/uploads/1/GNdmmDgJgyY

We taped this about a month ago in front of the White House while we were filming some skits. It's time to send it out far and wide. I dealt with the exact nonsense that we're seeing here, and urged pro-life leaders to rise to the occasion and actually be leaders -- not pontificator's, armchair quarterbacks, and empty action commentators -- and to stop pawning off cheap and ineffective gimmicks as legitimate political "action."

If you agree with what you have read in this letter, and if you agree with the video, forward this letter and video not only to your friends... but to every pro-life leader and pro-life organization you know.

Ask the pro-life leaders and the staff of pro-life organizations that you know to read this letter and watch this video, and to tell you what part of the letter or video is not true. Press them for an answer: what is not true here, and why?

"Counterfeit Activism" must stop. It is time that we have this discussion and debate out in the open. The trite tricks that people hold up as pro-life activism are actually disemboweling and emasculating those who could be trained to be true advocates and heroes.

May God awaken us with His holy zeal, and use us as the weaponry in His hand to crush legalized child-killing, and to hurl it back to hell where it came from.

For Christ and His children, I am your servant.
